Carpets, sofas, mattresses and curtains work hard every day. They absorb dust, spills, body oils, pet hair and smells, and unlike a floor or a worktop you cannot simply wipe them down. Regular professional cleaning keeps them looking fresher, feeling better and lasting longer.
Brisbane Integrated Facilities Support Limited cleans carpets, sofas, upholstered furniture, mattresses, curtains and rugs for homes, apartments, offices and commercial premises in Nairobi, with carpet pick-up and drop-off available in selected neighbourhoods.
Why the right method matters
Cleaning a carpet or sofa is not one-size-fits-all. The fibre, construction, colour and condition decide what is safe. The wrong product or too much moisture can cause fading, shrinkage, fibre damage, water marks or lingering odours. That is why we identify the material and assess the item before choosing a method.
Carpet cleaning
We clean carpets for:
- Homes and apartments
- Corporate offices and commercial buildings
- Hotels, bars and restaurants
- Schools and educational institutions
- Community halls and event spaces
- Large carpeted areas and shared facilities
Our carpet service removes accumulated dirt, treats suitable stains and refreshes the carpet using methods suited to its material and condition. Stain treatment and deodorising can be included where appropriate. Some stains and odours need specialist treatment, and complete removal cannot be guaranteed in every case.
A quick guide to carpet fibres
- Wool: soft and naturally resilient, but sensitive to excess moisture, harsh chemicals and unsuitable temperatures. It needs careful, wool-appropriate cleaning.
- Nylon: durable and common in busy homes and offices. Regular vacuuming and periodic professional cleaning keep it looking its best.
- Polyester: soft with attractive colours, but it can hold on to oily soils, so product choice matters.
- Polypropylene (olefin): generally moisture-resistant, but it can retain oily dirt and be damaged by excessive heat or aggressive cleaning.
- Natural fibres such as sisal, jute and seagrass: attractive but very sensitive to water, and may stain or shrink if wet-cleaned incorrectly. These often need specialist treatment.
Carpet styles
- Cut-pile: soft and common in bedrooms and living rooms. It can show footprints and vacuum marks.
- Loop-pile: hard-wearing and common in offices and corridors, though dirt can collect between the loops.
- Cut-and-loop: patterned and textured, so cleaning needs to protect the design.
Carpet pick-up and drop-off
Moving a large carpet is awkward. For customers in selected Nairobi neighbourhoods we collect it, clean it and bring it back. Pick-up and drop-off is available in: Loresho, Kitisuru, Runda, Lavington, Thigiri, Nyari, Riverside, Kilimani, Westlands, Kileleshwa, Parklands and along Ngong Road.
Pick-up and drop-off is limited to these areas. Contact us to confirm collection details for your address.
Sofa and upholstery cleaning
Sofas and upholstered chairs collect body oils, dust, crumbs and stains over time. We can discuss cleaning for:
- Two-seater and three-seater sofas
- L-shaped and sectional sofas
- Recliners, armchairs and lounge chairs
- Dining chairs
- Office chairs and reception seating
- Other upholstered furniture
Cotton, linen, chenille, velvet, tapestry and synthetic fabrics all react differently to moisture and agitation, so we assess the fabric and any stains before starting. Leather also needs its own products and techniques to remove surface dirt without drying or damaging the finish.
Mattress cleaning
Mattresses are used every night yet rarely cleaned. Depending on the material and its care instructions, our service can include thorough vacuuming, treatment of selected stains, cleaning to refresh the surface, attention to odours and, subject to availability, cleaning of the bed frame or headboard. We use as little moisture as possible and allow time to dry.
Mattress cleaning refreshes the sleeping surface, but it is not a medical treatment and does not guarantee protection against allergies.
Curtain and blind cleaning
Curtains and blinds trap dust, pollen and household smells. We can discuss cleaning for household and office curtains, drapes, selected fabric blinds and decorative drapery. Where the fabric and fitting allow, on-site cleaning may be possible; other curtains need to be taken down and cleaned elsewhere.
Fabrics can shrink or change colour, so we assess each set before treatment and tell you about any risks.
Rugs, including Oriental and handmade rugs
Persian, Oriental, handmade and decorative rugs depend on their fibres, dyes and construction. Wool, silk and cotton respond differently to moisture, and antique or delicate rugs are particularly sensitive. We assess the rug’s condition and fibre first. Depending on the rug, cleaning can be done after collection at a suitable facility, followed by drying and return, or on site where appropriate. Repairs and specialist treatments should be confirmed before booking.
Fabric protection and odour treatment
Fabric protection. After cleaning, a protective treatment can help reduce how quickly some water-based or oily spills soak in and make later cleaning easier. It does not make fabric stain-proof, and results depend on the material and the spill.
Odour treatment. Smells from pets, spills, smoke or damp usually come from residue deep in the fabric, so masking them with fragrance does not work for long. We treat the cause where possible. Severe urine contamination, persistent damp, fire damage or odours that have reached the carpet underlay may need further assessment or specialist restoration.
Keeping carpets and upholstery cleaner between professional visits
- Vacuum regularly, and more often in busy areas.
- Blot spills with a clean absorbent cloth. Do not rub.
- Avoid household chemicals that can discolour fabric or leave residue.
- Keep moisture to a minimum, because too much can cause odours or shrinkage.
- Use entrance mats to cut down the dirt brought indoors.
- Book professional cleaning when stains, odours or heavy use call for it.
Cleaning for businesses
Offices, hotels, restaurants, schools and apartment buildings can arrange carpet and upholstery cleaning for reception areas, meeting rooms, guest areas and shared spaces. Where possible, we schedule around your operations to minimise disruption.
How long will my carpet or sofa take to dry?
It depends on the material, the method and the weather. We will give you an expectation when we assess the item.
Can all stains be removed?
Many can be improved, but not all. Some stains and odours need specialist treatment, and complete removal cannot be guaranteed.
Do you offer pick-up outside the listed areas?
Carpet pick-up and drop-off is limited to the neighbourhoods listed above. Contact us to discuss other locations.
What should I tell you before booking?
The type of item, its size, the fabric if you know it, the stains or odours involved, and your address.
