Post-Construction
After-Renovation and Post-Construction Cleaning in Nairobi: What to Expect and How to Prepare

Builder’s clean after renovation or construction in Nairobi. Dust, paint and cement residue removed and new finishes protected. Request an assessment.
The contractors have left, the paint is dry and the keys are in your hand, but the building is not ready yet. Fine dust coats every surface, and there are cement marks, paint splashes, adhesive residue, grout haze and packaging in every room.
Brisbane Integrated Facilities Support Limited provides after-renovation and post-construction cleaning for homes, apartments, offices, shops and institutions in Nairobi and surrounding areas. Our aim is to take your property from finished building work to clean, presentable and ready for furniture, handover or occupation.
Why a builder’s clean is not ordinary cleaning
Construction dust is fine, travels everywhere and settles again if the job is done in the wrong order. Household cleaning methods can spread it around, and the wrong tool or chemical can scratch or damage new finishes. A professional post-construction clean helps in three ways:
- Safety: building work can leave nails, screws, offcuts, broken material and loose debris behind. Removing them makes the space safer before anyone moves in.
- Protection for new finishes: new floors, tiles, glass, countertops and cabinetry can be scratched, stained or dulled by unsuitable products and abrasive tools.
- Time saved: while you coordinate furniture delivery, inspections and the move, the cleaning is handled systematically.
How we sequence the job
The order matters as much as the products. A typical sequence looks like this:
- 1. Assessment. We look at the size and layout, the finishes, the level of dust, access and how close the property is to handover, then agree the scope and quotation with you.
- 2. Dry work first. We remove loose debris and dust from the top down, including ceilings, fittings, walls and frames, using suitable dust-capture equipment. Wiping dusty surfaces with water first only turns dust into smears.
- 3. Detailed surface cleaning. Windows, frames and tracks, kitchens, bathrooms, doors, switches and fixtures, with marks and residue treated by methods suited to each material.
- 4. Floors last. Floors are cleaned after everything above them, using machine scrubbing where the surface allows.
- 5. Final inspection. We check the work against the agreed list and touch up anything that needs it.

What we assess separately
Some work needs different equipment, access or expertise, so we agree it with you before starting:
- Heavy rubble, hazardous construction waste and other specialist waste
- High-level or exterior glass that needs access equipment and working-at-height controls
- Sites that still have active construction hazards, which should be made safe by suitably qualified people before routine cleaning begins
Protecting your new finishes
Paint, grout haze, cement residue and adhesive marks need methods suited to the specific material, not aggressive scrubbing. Abrasive pads scratch delicate surfaces, and harsh chemicals can affect coatings, sealants, metals and natural stone. We follow manufacturer guidance for newly installed finishes where it is available.
In fairness, a few marks may not come out completely, for example paint that has soaked into a porous surface or glass that has been etched. If we spot these during the assessment, we will tell you before work starts.
When to book
Book your detailed clean after the dusty trades have finished and before furniture, equipment or people move in. If contractors are still on site, a first clean part-way through the project followed by a final clean after the last trade often works best.
Common situations include:
- A new house or apartment block nearing handover
- A finished office renovation
- A property being prepared for new tenants
- A shop or showroom getting ready to open
- A refurbishment that has left dust throughout the building
- A completed space being prepared for inspection
What affects the cost
We do not quote by guesswork. These are the factors that shape the price:
- The size and layout of the property
- The amount and type of dust and debris
- The number of rooms, floors and windows
- The condition and sensitivity of finished surfaces
- The equipment and products required
- The location and waste-handling needs
- Whether you need a preliminary clean, a detailed clean or a final touch-up
A site assessment gives the most accurate quotation. We arrange the tools, equipment and products needed for the agreed scope, so you do not have to buy supplies for a one-off job.
A quick handover checklist
Before you call the job complete, check:
- Are walls, ceilings, fans and light fittings free of construction dust?
- Are windows, frames, sills and tracks clean?
- Have doors, handles and door frames been wiped?
- Are floors clean and properly finished?
- Have cabinets, shelves, drawers and wardrobes been cleaned inside and out?
- Are countertops and backsplashes clean?
- Are sinks, taps, toilets and showers clean and disinfected?
- Have switches, socket covers and skirting boards been wiped?
- Have stairs, corridors and common areas been cleaned?
- Has a final inspection been carried out?

Not sure whether we cover your site? Send us the location and we will confirm.
How long does a post-construction clean take?
It depends on the size of the property, the amount of dust and debris and the finishes involved. We give you a realistic estimate after the site assessment.
Can you clean before the painters and other trades finish?
We can do a first clean part-way through, but the final detailed clean should follow the last dusty trade so the dust does not settle again.
Do you remove builders’ rubble?
We collect loose construction litter, packaging and agreed light cleaning debris. Heavy rubble and hazardous or specialist waste are handled separately, and we will tell you what arrangement is needed.
Do you bring your own equipment and products?
Yes, for the agreed scope of work.
